About the Academy’s Music Lessons

The Alhambra School of Music offers both group and private music lessons to the communities of Alhambra, Pasadena, San Marino, San Gabriel, and Monterey Park, and surrounding areas. We teach students of all levels - from square-one beginners to graduate students. The school has delivered lessons to thousands of students since its inception in 1993.

Private instruction is offered on all instruments, for kids and adults. Private music instruction is the most focused and speedy way to master the techniques of an instrument because of the individual attention a student receives. Another advantage to having private lessons is that you, as a student, have a lot more flexibility with scheduling since group lessons may not be offered on a day or time that you are available!

Once you decide the learning style that is best suited for your situation, give us a call and we'll get you started. We offer 30-minute, 45-minute and 1-hour lessons for private lessons and 45-minute sessions for group lessons. If you have trouble choosing the best lesson times, we have included a general guide below, although the final choice and decision is totally up to you.

30-minute music lessons – ideal for beginners ages 4.5 – 8 years old, and adult beginners looking for casual instruction
45-minute music lessons – ideal for students ages 8 – 13 years old, and adult beginners looking for more rigorous lessons
60-minute music lessons – ideal for students ages 13+, as well as adults who have some experience in music

Our music teachers here at the Alhambra School of Music not only have the credentials, but also perform professionally on the instruments that they teach, allowing students to learn from musicians who preach what they teach!

The Alhambra School of Music has been offering private music lessons for students as young as five (5) on guitar, voice, piano, drums, violin, woodwinds, brass, ukulele, bass, and more since 1993. We also offer programs for group lessons, including piano, guitar, and vocal ensembles for students of various ages, as well as in-home lessons for busy families.

The Alhambra School of Music also offers multiple, low-pressure performances that provide our students opportunities to demonstrate what they have learned to family, friends, and the public throughout the year. Our recitals have a stellar community reputation, so we encourage all of our students to participate!
